"Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties. Truth was never put to the worse in a free and open encounter..."

What do you do when you discover that a noticeable percentage of your referrals from are from a site with no discernable connection to and no discoverable link to your own site? Do you suspect there's some weird scam going on? Is there a way I can find out this site's IP address to block their hits? Do I want to block any referrals from a site, even if I strongly suspect that there's no valid reason an internet sex site would be referring people to me?

At least 173 dead and hundreds wounded in Spain.

Dishonesty in government again. What can science do when it gets in the way of political agendas?

This is sort of gross. I mean, I understand what they're doing, but blowing up dead bodies is sort of gross.

The USofA's youth-worshipping culture has frequently bothered me, even when I was young, and I do find myself wondering how much of that will go by the wayside as the population ages? Nowadays, people mourning for their 'lost youth' are thinking of the days when they were 32, not when they were 12.

And at this point, those who pay me are politely waiting to trouble me with a bit of work, so that's all I had time to learn of world events this morning.

I'm not certain about this, but as I understand it, there is a particular browser that will report the last site visited as a referred, even if it was actually a visit via a Favorites list or directly typing the link into the browser. However, that would explain an occasional hit, not repeated hits from the same site. Unless you have an admirer who likes your site and that site very much, and bounces between them all day. Do the visits come from different IP addresses?

I don't know how to see the IP address, but the URL is exactly the same every time.

I don't mind if a hundred people come to this site after visiting a sex site, although I think it's a bit odd, as long as it's not some weird scam.

Anne, was the word "fisting" involved? I'm getting a lot of referrers, all via MSN search, with variations of that word, and it's creeping me out majorly. I don't think I've ever even used the word on my blog, so why it would show up in that kind of search is just plain weird...

Elayne, No it wasn't. There's no odd skewing toward sex-related words in my stats, just over a hundred refers from this site in the first 8 days of this month.

I'm not being deliberately coy by not saying which one it was, I just don't want this blog showing up as a referrer to a big sex site. (So let's not all dash over there from here, okay?)

The URL the "refers" are coming from is http://www.sex-tension.com/dettagli.html. I checked it out, in spite of the name, and was immediately sorry because I was at work at the time.
