Oh, be quiet.

The CNN headline says, Miers intellect praised

I'm thinking, "If she was picked for her smarts, someone would have said that in the first place" but, nooo, all we heard was, "Lookee! It's a gal!" and "Don't be scared. She loves Jesus."

Personally, I'd prefer that the highest court in our country be populated, if not with people who aren't superstitious, at least with people who are embarrassed to be superstitious and try to hide it, but whatever and I'm tired and cranky today.

If she was that smart, they wouldn't have to call attention to it.

Well, she should be the second coming of Einstein and Learned Hand (though one might expect her evaluation of Bush to be somewhat more moderate at that point), but she hasn't had a career that was sufficiently public to provide a trail.

Plus, they're now trying to shift attention away from the other stuff.

You know, I'm sure she's smart: dumb doesn't go that far, even with connections. The question is, is she Supreme Court smart or is she courtier smart? It's the latter that I see: she's no mandarin or scholar; she's an executive. That's fine for FEMA, perhaps....

Lab Kat - Agreed.

Jonathan - Well, look at who nominated her. Bush and his cronies, the group who thought what a country needed was a "CEO" (and a failed one, at that) and not a "leader."

"Smart" is no defense against "wrong"....
