Editor&Publisher covers the NYTimes editorial calling for immediate withdrawal from Iraq.

But, of course, to offset that, the NYTimes also has an article announcing that no troop withdrawal is planned right now.

Of course not. They're "surging." Manly men don't think about withdrawal when they're "surging."

P.S. For those of you who found yourselves surging a bit at the reports of the strong U.S. job market? Calm yourselves. They're largely service jobs.

No wonder I'm still unemployed.

To put it plainly, they're not the quality, financially rewarding kinds of jobs that have been lost under this Administration's reign of terror incompetency.

I think secretarial is considered a service job as well, but I haven't yet been able to secure a new job in the 5+ years I've been looking...

The "surge" in service jobs is in two areas: really low end, and really high end. Middle class? We don't need no stinkin' middle class.....

No comment possible about the surge metaphor, Anne. It's perfect, but ....

5+ years, Elayne? I can't afford that! You have my sympathy. (I'm only at 3-1/2 months. This time. So far.)

Okay, Ahistoricality, it was vulgar, I know. I wrote it before I realized what I was saying and then--then I just couldn't resist.

(Don't blame me entirely. It was Them who came up with the "surge" metaphor in the first place. I just--took it one step too far.)
