On Dirty Campus Politics: There's a chicken and egg problem there. When I was an undergrad at Georgetown, a campus newspaper uncovered a "vast right-wing conspiracy" -- a secret society called The Stewards -- to control student institutions including governance, political and cultural organizations, so as to keep campus politics on the Catholic Republican straight-and-narrow. I'm quite sure that some of those guys (I'm pretty sure they were all guys) are now working for Republican think-tanks..... like PNAC?

On the Crawford Five: I like to see the positive. Perhaps the police in Crawford, unsure of the constitutional legalities involved, decided that the courts were the appropriate arbiter of fact and law in this case. In other words, arrest 'em all and let the judge sort it out. Or the appeals court. Or maybe federal court.....

On the Republican .gov site: Democrats have one too: http://www.democrats.gov/. It's a pretty good parallel to the Republican site: both are not as agressive as the .org versions, which are clearly campaign oriented.

Oddly enough, I looked for a matching Democrat site and didn't find it.

On Crawford, I stand by my original opinion. Small-town cops who, given a reason to get above themselves, do so with enthusiasm.
