Comments: Mind. Boggling.

Don't forget the mass graves at the Fallujah soccer field.

Fallujah is a perfect example of the failure of binary logic and the failure of the muddled middle. The Bush Administration saw the options as full-out assault or being taken for a fool; they choose a compromise, which is to allow someone else to stage a full-out assault and be taken for a fool.

There must be more options out there than retreat, destruction and proxies. Hmm. Maybe we should ask the Iraqis what they want.... and give it to them? That'd be democratic.

I find myself wondering if the Bush Administration is willing to grant "democracy" to the Iraqis before they meet some internal USofA standard for "pacification."

In any case, given our hopes of long-term military bases in the country, the problem of Iraqis wanting USofA soldiers off their land is going to be with us for quite a long time.
