Comments: Well?

Some of us have been suggesting that "unity" needs qualification for some time now.... But with the constitution a pretty much done deal, I think we're in the evolutionary period, rather than the decision-making period, at this point.

Well, one might suggest that it's not really "our" decision to make and that if we butted out, it might be the decision that Iraq makes. Or, would have made, left on their own.

Public reports that some neocons still think Chalabi has a chance of becoming PM suggest to me that there are still a lot of USofA fingers in Iraqi pies.

Agreed. There's evidence (well, rumors, mainly) to suggest that a much weaker central government might have made it through the constitutional negotiations much more easily: there's one of our fingers right there.

Chalabi... why can't we ever just wash our hands of these people?
