You may remember that this happened during the Reagan years, too. (But maybe not, I am getting old.) In surveys, disagreement with Reagan's positions was high, but people still voted for him because they liked him. It speaks to his ability to perform on camera the quality of his image consulting team.

Now that you remind me, I do remember, Professor Kim. And I remember that I held the opinion at that time that We The Peepul were, by and large, a mangy pack of morons. But sometimes I'm rude.

Since you brought it up, the point actually isn't why people were fooled by the Bush campaign (twice!) but why, when, where, or how people stopped voting for what they believed in?

Is it, as I'm beginning to suspect, because the Democratic Party stopped standing for what people believed in>
