I would let them know specifically about the coco job. Most people totally understand that a mostly telecommuting job trumps almost the best in-the-office-everyday job anytime, anywhere.

Tell them you will help them out until this job opens up in January. That way if you *want* to keep working for them full time, if that option comes up, you can always say the CoCo job didn't materialize, but if and when it does, they have fair warning that full-time or no, you will be taking this job.

I did. Let them know. It's now up in the air whether or not they'll want me even part-time for the next two months.

For one thing, after they had me in yesterday, they discovered how tough it is to keep someone busy all day...it's different than having an employee who has their own tasks and is self-starting.
