Comments: Stand Up and Salute

Just as the Republican congress protects the President from impeachment, the Republicanization of the military has protected politicized soldiers from courts martial.

I don't believe that the equation between Republican and military interests is a complete one: the military establishment has been quite nervous about some of the concrete "reforms" promoted by this administration, but this is why it's important to distinguish between attacks on policy and attacks on institutions (when they don't deserve it)....

Yes, I know that the military has been nervous, but they're also led, at the highest levels, by political appointees.

I'd like to see a little public outcry about this. Whether these soldiers understand what they're doing or not, I'd rather they weren't the only ones who got into trouble for this.
