Comments: Let Me Explain

I disagree, to an extent. Nixon got blamed for a lot because he oversaw the most vicious six years of the war, and because it was a centerpiece of his campaigning. But LBJ gets a lot of the blame as well, for overseeing six years or so of escalation rather than problem solving.... true, Kennedy and Eisenhower and Truman get a pass, mostly because they never let it get "out of hand" the way LBJ and Nixon did.

Ford, on the other hand, is the guy who ended the war for real, and he gets hardly any credit for it at all.

By the time he leaves office, Bush will have overseen five years worth: more than enough, given our current level of over-comittment, for him to get lots of blame.

Typical attitude of someone who has had someone to clean up his messes all his life.
