Just now, I ran across LeGuin's quote: "What sane person could live in this world and not be crazy?"

Though I'm still partial to Spider Robinson's "Insanity may be an entirely rational response to an irrational situation."

Jonathan - I'm leaning toward the Spider Robinson quote, myself.

Although the LeGuin has merit.... I saw a headline today saying that Bush is saying that Democrats can't be trusted to be in control of Congress, and I'm thinking,

"What does he think they're doing to do? Spend too much money? Get a lot of people killed? Pass lousy legislation? Trash the economy? Mortage the country's future? Drastically lower our prestige around the world? Be revealed as a bunch of closeted hypocrites? What does he think they'll do that the Right hasn't trail-blazed already in the last five years?"

"lose the war" by which he probably means "succeed in accomplishing something concrete".... or "investigate my failings" which is pretty much the same thing.

Or "bring me and all of my criminal cronies up on charges for invading a nonaggressive country, torturing illegally held prisoners of war, and generally being total morons"?

Finally, a fun reason to vote for Democrats....
