Back at 'ya!
I don't know if it's going to help me or hurt me, but I've gotten a lot less gun-shy about talking about the job search (see my blog....) Potential employers who are going to get nervous about my blogging aren't going to be less nervous about it if I shut up about this one aspect, and we need some real openness. It has raised questions (I've gotten email) about what happened, which I have to be a bit delicate about, though. The "Why did you leave your previous position" questions always comes up, especially when you're leaving a position in Hawai'i.

I think most bloggers wonder about the blog-career consequences these days. I have a smoke-screen because I blog under my "real" name, but it's my middle name and I use my first name on the job. I guess a curious potential employer could find my sekrit identity, if they tried.
Having followed several (cough) kerfuffles over employment and promotion processes in your field, I agree that more openness is needed. (But in such a competitive field, it might be said that the "established hierarchy holds all the cards.) I'll be watching your progress, of course, with much interest.
(Come to Denver! :) It's warmer than you think!)
