Surfer shock, yeah: I have surfing colleagues, and you really don't think of Ph.D.s on surfboards, right?
Sounds like a great trip, the kind I haven't taken in decades: all the travel we do is to visit people, or professional. But that'll change once we're off the island and can actually drive places.
