The thing about barter is that you can easily define it -- for tax purposes -- as an exchange of gifts or favors, and those aren't taxable until you're into the thousands of dollars. So I don't see a problem, unless you start treating it like a business ("Will Code For Color"). We are still permitted, even by the IRS, to have private lives....
