Last year when I got my shiny new special order laptop from Dell, it still insisted on updates. And updates to the updates. And then more updates. I think there were four rounds of update running before it was happy.

And since I still live on dial-up, I have automatic updates turned off. Luckily, I could take the laptop to someplace with Wi-Fi to do all its updates...
